About
“You walk into a blog and they all start speaking Welsh….”
Hi. I’m Mei Gwilym and this is my blog.
I’m a web developer from Caernarfon in north Wales. I build sites using HTML 4.01 and CSS. I also wrestle with PHP and MySQL, and have been known to occasionally fight it out with Javascript.
Due to not wanting to reinvent the wheel, I’m a big fan of using open source projects and frameworks for my sites. My favourite is Wordpress, and I find jQuery easy to work with. Saying this, I’ve still not tried a CSS framework. I have a Wordpress theme in development, but don’t hold your breath as this is already about 6 months old and only a tiny (tiny) bit of coding has been done.
The Blog
This blog is about web design and development, and anything else that takes my technical fancy. It’s presently monolingual, although I would like it to be bilingual someday.
You may wish to take a look at my portfolio. It’s in Welsh only at the moment, but the pictures are easy to understand ;-).
When I’m not transfixed to a computer screen I spend time with my gorgeous wife Catrin and my son Brychan. I’m the secretary of Caernarfon Rugby Club, and sing in the back row of Côr Cyntaf i’r Felin choir.
This blog runs on Wordpress with the fantastic Hemingway theme. I may/may not code my own theme for it someday…
